2023 Round Up!
2023 Round Up!
A message from our CEO…
As 2023 draws to a close, on behalf of the team at Australian Skin Cancer Foundation I would like to say a warm thank-you to all of our supporters for your continuing support and inspiring work throughout the year. Much has been achieved!
While we look forward to a well-earned rest during the upcoming holiday season, celebrating and relaxing with family and friends, we can reflect on a year of continuing change and growth.
In 2023, the basis of our endeavours was shaped by our commitment to the people affected by this horrible disease; melanoma and non melanoma skin cancers. Not just the patient but also the family members.
The Better Trial
Working alongside other organisations including Melanoma and Skin Cancer Trials group where we donated $210,000 towards the BETTER trial. This trial The BETTER trial was made possible thanks to our fundraising efforts.
Jay’s Mission Melanoma Walk raising funds for research
Most recently working with the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse where we will be directing more precious funds to a revolutionary clinical trial. Led by Dr Jenny Lee, the trial aims to significantly reduce the invasive and debilitating treatment for squamous cell carcinoma - a non-melanoma skin cancer - by using immunotherapy to drastically shrink the size of the tumour.
Results thus far are promising, and our donations will enable further research. Watch Dr Jenny Lee's video or head to our Jay’s Mission Melanoma Walk fundraising page to make a donation which is still open.
Our Skin Check Truck
With the continued support of MoleMap, our Skin Check truck has been on the road this year visiting regional areas. We have checked 1500 people, found 24 melanoma's and hundreds of BCC's and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC's).
Thank you to the Federal Health Ministers office Mark Butler and team who we are working very hard to bring more skin check trucks to rural communities across Australia.
Save the date
We are busting at the seams to share with you some details of our annual gala night happening on Saturday 23rd March 2024. Look for news in the new year, as this is one event you will NOT want to miss out on.
A big thank you to…
Our Partners
Other partnerships we are proud of and thank for their support this year are Toyota Australia, HOKA, RSM Australia, MoleMap, Hamilton, Ricky Richards, Project Dry Hire, Street Impact, Elka Merchandise, NCIS, TNS Groundworks and also the NRL, who support us at some of the biggest NRL games in Australia in particular the State Of Origin games and NRL Grand Final.
The awareness that we are raising is certainly making an impact and even bigger things to come in 2024.Without your continued support it doesn’t happen. We thank you you all.
Look out for our new partnership…
Our new partnership with NSW Surf life Saving is a powerful one that we are very excited about to try and change the landscape by raising more awareness and saving lives via our skin check truck. Keep an eye on our truck visiting surf carnivals across this summer for your free skin check.
