Australia's skin check truck visits rural NSW town of Barham

Australia's skin check truck visits rural NSW town of Barham: Over 400 checks, 11 possible melanomas detected.

The Skin Check Truck recently visited the rural town of Barham, completing nearly 400 skin checks and detecting 11 possible melanomas. This visit is part of the initiative to bring free, life-saving skin cancer screenings to regional communities across Australia.

The success of the event was boosted by collaboration with local doctors, who provided follow-up care and support for residents in need of further assessment. Jay Allen, founder of Australian Skin Cancer Foundation was there and shared:
"The success of the Skin Check Truck’s visit to Barham is a significant milestone in our mission to combat skin cancer across regional Australia. By bringing accessible, life-saving skin checks directly to the community, we have not only raised awareness but potentially saved lives. Early detection is key, and it’s incredible to see the difference we’re making in people’s lives one check at a time."

Skin cancer remains a major health concern, especially in rural areas. The Skin Check Truck continues to play a crucial role in providing accessible screenings and raising awareness across the country. Thank you to our partner Mole Map, the Barham community, particularly the Lions Club, Club Barham and local doctors for their support in making this visit a success.

Stay tuned for updates on future visits and remember – early detection saves lives.
